Ankara Cats Update: TAA funds its first desexing! – 23 November 2017

TAA has funded it first desexing thanks to the generous donations of our supporters! This would also have been impossible without the assistance of local animal-lover, Sebnem. The first animal was a cat in GOP, Ankara who has produced multiple litters over the past few seasons. Her most recent kittens are now old enough to be without their mum for a few days, so she was delivered to the vet today.

This cat will remain in the hospital for approximately a week before being released back to her original location. This will allow adequate time for her wound to be monitored and for her to recover from the surgery before having to deal with the rapidly plummeting temperatures (Ankara received its first snow for the season yesterday). She will have a little notch taken out of her ear to indicate that she has been desexed. Meanwhile, we have identified several more females that we will desex in the coming weeks.

Another cat we are assisting is around 6 months of age, and was rather thin and had been off her food. Whilst she has put on some weight since we started feeding her some good quality kitten food, she does not appear to be 100% healthy. On clinical exam we were unable to detect any obvious abnormalities, so we have wormed her to see if this helps remedy the situation.
