A trip to the vet for 2 sick puppies

A few weeks back one of the puppies became sick. Eve (the puppy we formerly referred to as A1) presented as lethargic, shivering and off her food. On examination she had a temperature of 39.4 degrees so it was off to the vet for her. Providing care in this context can be challenging – as a street animal, Eve has access to all kinds of food and rubbish. It was also hard to provide the treating vet with all the relevant information, such as whether she had been vomiting or suffering from diarrhoea. Eve was treated with antibiotic, pain-relief and anti-inflammatory injections and was returned to her park. A few hours later she was looking a little brighter and the next morning her temperature had reduced to 38.9 degrees. We administered Eve with a course of antibiotics and performed regular temperature checks and monitoring over the following week. A few days later, Kahve (formerly known as A2) came down with similar signs so medical treatment was initiated. We kept an eye on the rest of the litter for signs of a similar illness but luckily they all remained healthy.
